1999's GEL-KAYANO® 5 OG running shoe returns with its original construction. After an initial sketch on paper, designer Toshikazu Kayano was quick to point out that the upper mirrored the human anatomy's bone structuring, organs and muscles. In the era it debuted, this shoe introduced two improvements to the model’s lineage - the teardrop tongue and QUADRA lacing system. Working in unison with each other, these technologies create an improved fit with better midfoot support. The GEL-KAYANO® 5 OG shoe is injected with a GEL® technology cushioning pocket in the heel for greater comfort, while the layered application of componentry has become the foundation that still influences the shoe's design today.
